The MCU and it's Future...in my Eyes.

The MCU and the Future. Likes and dislikes of the D+ shows and films. Before and upcoming. From 2008 and Iron Man’s debut, I have been astounded at what Kevin Fiege and his crew have built. After Iron Man came Incredible Hulk, which I bought was fantastic and only with one small flaw(the initial look of Hulk at the school). The acting was spot on and was the second step. Then came Iron Man 2, which some criticized, but I liked it. Then came Thor. I had a feeling it was going to be great when I found out it was directed by Kenneth Branagh. Nailed it. And I said after that, if they nail Captain America they can do anything. And they did.     Knockout after knockout, from Avengers, Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 And the best MCU in my opinion, Captain America and the Winter Soldier. Captain America Civil War seemed like another Avengers film, and not glossing over Age of Ultron.     The surprise of the first group or phase, was Guardians of the Galaxy. The blending of music on film was perfectio

State of the DCU    So, James Gunn is now one of the two new pilots of the DC comics film and TV universe (along with Peter Safran). And he has announced the first slate of projects. Great.   So before I break this whole thing down, let me say I was pleased to hear Gunn was taking over the reigns and try to steer the DCU towards a continuity that made sense. I, for a long time, said that is what they should do and model it(somewhat) ater the MCU. I mean, it's a formula that WORKS, why not do it!  Fans were excited. Then the hammer fell. No more Cavil, Affleck or Godot. But strangely, they are keeping Momoa and Miller(WHY?), and then the hate came. Cavil is a fan favorite and he is a known geek, so he is 'one of us'. But he wasn't keeping the big 3, instead, recasting will commence. Ugh, really? Oh, it gets worse...he is keeping The Suicide Squad and The Peacemaker...why? They are HIS creations. I said that was stupid and selfish. And then he said that he expected the ha

The Current State of Disney, part 1

Walt Disney. A name so ingrained in the culture of the world and it is synonymous with quality, fun and guest satisfaction. Until recently, that is.    A Little Background. I went to Walt Disney World with my family in 1978 for the first time. It was magical. EPCOT wasn't built yet and Eisner had yet to take over. The park had only been open for about 7 years and it was an event. Fast forward to 1995 when my brother started working there after college. I was working with a formerly huge food home delivery service. I flew down to see him and we went to the parks. It was extremely new for me, even though I had been there before. EPCOT was my favorite place, and having a fascination with Japan(at the time), it was the place for me. DHS was still MGM Studios at that time and Animal Kingdom hadn't been built yet. I loved it. I visited there numerous times over the next 4 years. I started in culinary school in 1999 and towards the end I decided that that is where I wanted to go. Th

Steelers, Fans and Expectations.

Steelers football. For decades the Pittsburgh Steelers have been around. And ever since 1969, when Chuck Knoll was hired as head coach, the hopes and expectations of fans have stood behind them. Mostly. In the past decade or so I have seen the most vicious and unrelenting hatred of the coachees, players, plays and style come under attack. And since we won the Super Bowl in 2008, this has been, mostly, accurate. Knoll went through his trials, his first season they only won one game. Then the best came. Four Super Bowls later his 'dynasty' ran out. And from then until 1991 when he retired he was bashed for not winning another championship.  Then came the Chin. Bill Cowher came in and began to rebuild. And he did, leading them to a championship, but ultimately losing to the Cowboys. And he had his detractors, but then we came back and won Super Bowl 40. And then..retired.  Then comes Mike Tomlin. Only considering 2 or 3 coaches for the job as Head Coach, the Rooney's went wit

Elvis Presley: Moody Blue

Christmas 1977. Evans City, PA. We were at Grandma's house for the holiday and my parents gave me the blue vinyl of Elvis's last LP. I LOVED this album. It's funny I listen to it today and don't remember a couple tracks, but they haven't changed obviously. Growing up I had listened to my parent's Elvis albums (Aloha From Hawaii to name one) and loved listening to him. So getting this was awesome. It was released in July 1977, and I knew I wanted it. I was young and didn't know exactly what I got, but I played it over and over. A month after it was released, Elvis died and the world wept. This was the last album he would ever create, and although there would be albums released after, they were recordings from far before his death. But nothing could change that delight of playing that clear blue vinyl on the turntable. Listening to Moody Blue and Way Down , my musical taste was beginning to build. The album itself was a hit, probably because it was his las

First Days

This is new for me. A trip out of my comfort zone and into the unknown. Going into the untethered void alone is always a challenge, and this is not different. This also marks the turning point in my life in many ways. First these days(following the crap show of January 2022) are definitely new territory. And I say from February 2022 until now(mid-September 2022) I have been a lazy, depressed wreck. But that is changing, albeit slower than I wanted.   I have a friend that is helping me with nutrition and a lot of support friends and that is always a win. I have begun downsizing and prepping to sell items. Also trying to force myself back to work is proving tougher than I thought it would be, but I am getting there.   Work is a problem. With the last few years(thanks Covid) being what they were, I have gained a lot of weight and that has affected my walk and stamina. The weight, in addition to sitting far too much on the past few years. I did realize that kitchen work proved too much th
